The 'History of Jamaican Music' tour will immerse you in the different forms of Jamaican music such as reggae, ska, and rocksteady. Come discover why Jamaicans make such great music. After pickup, your musical tour of Jamaica, led by a professional and friendly guide, begins with a visit to the Bob Marley Museum where you will learn more about Jamaica's musical giant. After this visit, you'll head to Devon House for a delicious lunch of patties and ice cream. Next, head to National Heroes Park for context: who are the Jamaicans, what is our history, and how has it influenced the music? (At National Heroes Park, there are friendly street dogs that we feed when possible. If you like dogs, it's perfect. If not, you don't have to interact with them. If you like dogs, feel free to bring them food - ProPet Adult and Purina Dog Chow are available at most local supermarkets). We then stop at Trench Town Culture Yard, from where so many music greats originated. Finally, we go to a downtown record store to spin vinyl and listen to the different genres of Jamaican music, from classic mento to modern dancehall. At the end of the tour, we'll take you back to your accommodation. You'll leave with a better understanding of Jamaican music, its musicians, and their influences. - Please note that there is a lunch stop, but the cost of lunch is not included in the tour.
