Sit back and relax on the Great River at Lethe on a bamboo raft cruise. Observe your lush surroundings as you float on your 30-foot raft, admiring the views from the water. For ultimate relaxation, go rafting on the Great River at Lethe. Lethe (pronounced Lee-tie by locals) is nestled in the hills along the banks of the Great River which borders the parishes of Hanover and St. James. Lethe, a former sugar/banana plantation estate, now offers river excursions by experienced rafting captains. Enjoy the picturesque scenery while rafting on 30-foot long bamboo rafts. The rafts take you along the Great River and under the historic Lethe bridge, built by slaves over 200 years ago in 1820. Take a dip in the river at appropriate spots and enjoy the cool waters as you go up and down the river. Buy jerk chicken and drinks among other things from the raft "shops". These floating shops along the river are offered by ingenious Jamaicans. Get up and dance to the rhythm of the music played by the raft "shops". Enjoy the foot and leg scrubs offered by the raft captains, using the limestone found along the bank. The captains are patient, informative, friendly, and polite, which adds to your overall rafting experience. This tour only picks up from hotels and guesthouses in Montego Bay.
