Hotel guests are requested to select their hotel. Our tour begins with a crossing of the bustling city of Saint John's, where we'll pass the majestic Holy Family Catholic Cathedral, perched atop a dormant volcano, an impressive sight steeped in history. We'll then pass Country Pond, where our ancestors once went to get water, before stopping at the iconic Prime Minister's Office and the Parliament. From there, we'll head to Factory Road, passing American Road and the police headquarters, while soaking up the rich history and culture of Antigua. Next, admire the impressive residence of Sir Rodney Williams, our Governor General's house, from All Saints Road. Continuing our journey, we'll dive into the history of All Saints Village, renowned for its pottery and the birthplace of Antigua's national dish, fungi and saltfish. We'll then arrive at the village of Liberta, historically the first to receive news of Antigua's liberation from slavery. The name 'Liberta' itself is a nod to freedom, a powerful reminder of the island's history. Explore 500-year-old churches, built from natural limestone that changes hue throughout the seasons. We'll pass St. Paul's Anglican Church, which served as both a courthouse and a place of worship in the 1600s, a remarkable historical testament. We'll then visit the legendary Nelson's Dockyard, discovered by English sailor Horatio Nelson, which is now a thriving tourist center with incredible stories. Enjoy panoramic views of Clarence House, where Princess Margaret spent her honeymoon, and don't miss a visit to Shirley Heights, where you'll be captivated by breathtaking views and rich history. A stop at the historic Block House offers the chance to admire the home of the famous Eric Clapton. Immerse yourself in the heart of Antigua's vibrant culture at the Interpretation Center, where interactive exhibits bring the island's past to life through captivating clips and shows. You can then relax at Pigeon Point Beach, where you'll have 35 minutes to swim. Our tour continues with a visit to the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium (if the cricket ground is closed, we'll go around it and stop for photos). We'll dive into the legacy of one of the greatest cricketers of all time. Antigua's national hero, his contribution to the West Indies cricket team helped make our island known worldwide. Before returning to Saint John's, we'll stop to explore further, including the remains of the old sugar factory. Antigua's sugar plantations were once private properties. We'll tell you the fascinating story of their transformation in the 1930s. In 1972, sugar production stopped, but its legacy lives on. Cruise ship name This tour is offered in English
