Discover St. Maarten's newest attraction, the Sky Explorer chairlifts. Ride quietly on two chairlifts with a total span of 2,997 feet, as the landscape unfolds below. A spectacular panoramic view awaits you at the top of one of St. Maarten's highest mountains. Each adventure begins in this restored plantation house, originally built in the 1700s. The museum tells the powerful story of Trace Wilson, born a slave on the property in 1818, and her direct descendant Emilio Wilson. You will see depictions of life on a plantation and discover the customs, traditions, lifestyle, and stories that earned St. Maarten the nickname "Friendly Island". Board the Sky Explorer for an approximately 25-minute ride to the summit of Sentry Hill, one of the highest elevations in St. Maarten at 1,125 feet. The experience includes two chairlifts along with a series of platforms that circle the mountain peak and offer 360-degree views of the island, including neighboring islands like Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Barts, and Anguilla. When you're ready to descend, simply board the Sky Explorer for a scenic journey back down the mountain. After your adventure, you can purchase souvenirs and photos of the attraction in the gift shop. Emilio's Restaurant, nestled between authentic old colonial walls, offers a menu of classic dishes with a new twist. Food and drinks are available for sale.
