A ship that was wrecked at the end of the 19th century still lies off the coast of Havana today. Go explore this wreck and discover its history! Itinerary: At the end of the 19th century, after a series of diplomatic tensions, war broke out between Spain, the United States, and a Cuba fighting for its independence. Some remains of this conflict are still buried in the Caribbean waters. To discover them, we'll pick you up at 09:30 AM in front of the entrance to the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana in a classic 1950s American car. In just 30 minutes, we'll arrive at the beaches located 10 kilometers east of Havana. Before going into the water, you'll do a brief warm-up during which we'll explain the basic safety rules. Then, we'll put on masks, fins, and snorkels and can start snorkeling. While you're in the water, two guides with buoys available will accompany you for extra safety. Depending on the sea conditions and the group's physical condition, we'll swim to one of the following two wrecks: the City of Alexandria (located 300 meters from the shore, about a half-hour swim) or the SS Olivette (located 750 meters away; a 45-minute swim). Once we've chosen the boat we'll snorkel around, we'll explain the history of its sinking. The SS Olivette sank in 1918, while the City of Alexandria sank in 1893. Both ships are closely linked to Cuban history, and by snorkeling, you'll be able to admire them up close! At the end of this snorkeling experience, we'll return to the beach to drink coconut water. Finally, after changing, we'll get back in the 50s car to return to the entrance of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana at 02:00 PM. How does it work?
